We always start by listening...
To the land itself, the original author of every site.
To Indigenous Peoples and Knowledge Keepers, whose relationship with the land extends far beyond the timelines of any project.
To the stories embedded in a place; histories of celebration and hardship, belonging and displacement, memory and change.
To the client, who carries a vision before it has language.
To the communities who know a place through lived experience, and to those whose voices have not always been heard.
To the ecologies that sustain life there: the trees, waterways, habitats, and systems that connect us to something larger than ourselves.
To future generations, who will inherit the consequences and possibilities of the choices we make today.
To the rhythms of climate, culture, and time, which remind us that every intervention becomes part of a much longer story.
Only then do we begin to design.
